Strength + Fitness

  • Strength & Fitness classes are accessible to everyone and provide you with functional movements to increase your strength and mobility.
  • You’ll be able to use what you get from a Strength & Fitness routine to improve your ability to hike, carry groceries, lift up the kids, work around the house or your job, and feel better.
  • Every one of NapTown’s growing staff are either Strength & Fitness Coaches or Trainers. Staff take classes as much as they coach them.

SWIFT

In each 45 minute class you will be taken through a brief warm-up, review of the movements in our daily workout, and then pushed to your limits for a high intensity cardio and strength workout. We maximize efforts by minimizing time chatting, standing around and teaching complex movements.

MOVE $15 per classPurchase required to enroll

MOVE is a 45-minute class where you can expect to be moving for most of the class. Workouts are longer and full of bodyweight movements, cardio machines, and lightweight dumbbells or kettlebells. The workouts are created ahead of time but are not published beforehand so you are in for a surprise every time you show up to class! These workouts are not programmed around CrossFit or SWIFT so be mindful of how your body is feeling after a MOVE class as you head into a new week of fitness!

Open Gym

Open Gym Info:

  • Located in back space at 922 only

  • Open Gym is limited to 2 athletes


Open Gym Procedures:

  • Athletes must pre register for Open Gym

  • Arrive no more than 10 minutes before the Open Gym window and must leave at the end of the session time

  • Enter through the main gym entrance to have your temperature checked before Open Gym

  • Use a square in the back space of 922 for your Open Gym time

    • You will be responsible for spraying down and cleaning all of the equipment used during the time frame that you are in the gym

    • Wear a mask any time you are not in your square (like when grabbing equipment)

    • Equipment can be grabbed from other areas of the gym but classes have first priority (ie you cannot take equipment that is needed for class that day)

  • While using the squares or the rig, please remain socially distant from any other Open Gym participants

Strength + Fitness: Personal Training Starting at $85 per appointment

If you feel like you need to "get in shape" before starting one of our programs, have specific goals, need help setting specific goals, or simply prefer to work one on one, personal training might be a great solution! Our skilled trainers are excellent at helping clients find their fitness sweet spot and guiding them towards a their fittest and healthiest self. FYI: $85 is our starting rate, but varies from coach to coach and time requested to train.

This month's running clinic will include topics on footwear, running form, injury prevention, warm up/recovery and training. The clinic will start in the gym, but move to the canal to practice what you've learned!

ZOOM - Book Club Free

Kristina Johnson, MSW, LSW, RYT 200 will be leading community members through a book club on July 8 and July 22 from 7:30p to 8:30p via Zoom. We will be reading Sister Outsider (https://bookshop.org/books/sister-outsider-essays-and-speeches/9781580911863), a collection of essays and speeches written by a black lesbian poet and feminist.

Looking to take a breather and refocus your mind? This mid-day meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises) class is short & sweet and will get you out of your head and into the present moment.

This 15 minute class is available as a standalone virtual option OR as a free add-on if you are already attending the 12pm Flow class. You do not need to register for this class if you already plan to attend the 12pm class, but you will need to pre-register if you ONLY plan to attend for Meditation and Deep Breathing. This class is not available as a standalone in-person option. The studio doors will be locked until 1pm, so you will not be able to join in-person.

This shorter format class is the perfect way to focus on resting, recovering, and building a mindful breathing practice.

A 45-minute class that is intended to be a starting point for any new yogis or athletes looking to add yoga to their recovery. This class will be slower paced and more focused on mobility and stretching, holding poses for 2-3 minutes at a time. This can be a mentally and physically challenging practice - not because of muscular endurance, but because of the mental/ physical strength it takes to let go.

If class is denoted as "WARM" it will take place in our slightly heated upstairs studio. You can expect the room to be 80-82 degrees.

Greet the day with this early morning practice! This 45-minute practice will invite you to enjoy the steadiness of help postures mixed with the fluidity of flow-like transitions. The focus of the class is to wake you up without wearing you out.

Enjoy the sweat and movement of a vinyasa flow with a little more emphasis on alignment. Alignment cues and short explained demos will allow for you to work more awareness into your practice and create a greater understanding of mechanics, alignment, strength and surrender as you build your practice. These principals can be applied to any level yogi, whether you are in class for the first time or an experienced practitioner. These classes will also include intro level yoga theory and philosophy concepts.

Aerial yoga invites you to explore your practice with support from the hammock, allowing you to go deeper into poses and notice details you normally wouldn't. Flow is our vinyasa style class pairing breath with movement and challenging students to explore new postures and limitations within their practice. You may be invited to move on your own without the guidance of the instructor for short portions of class. 45 and 60 minute version of this class are available throughout the week.

Sadhana

Sadhana is a Sanskrit word that means daily spiritual practice. Part philosophy, part asana, part meditation, part pranayama - expect a full soul cleansing and an in depth practice of at least 4 of the 8 limbs of the yogic path.

**This class is intended to be for serious practitioners who want to push the edge of their asana practice. Recommended at least 3-5 years practice, a solid inversion practice (headstand, forearm stand and/or handstand) and willing to take risks.

Welcome to Summer School! This special course will meet in-person (outdoors, weather permitting) on Sundays from 7/11 to 8/15. The goal of summer school is to begin to build a daily spiritual and meditation practice while continuing to advance our asana and breath practice. This course is open to students who want to take their practice further, no teacher training required. Those with a YTT wanting to get back to their own mat are also more than welcome to attend!

This course does not function as a standalone membership and allows access only to classes on the schedule labeled as "Yoga Summer School."
